My First Picture Book of Boating Words LITTLE HARBOR PUBLISHING Facts & Stats Remember, If you do not advertise, a terrible thing happens.... NOTHING Angling the pier lately has been hit an miss with most of the action in the daytime right up till an hour after sunset; about 9-10 they all go home to watch TV or get ready for school the next day, ha, ha! The sharks this week caught in the early evening hours mainly on ladyfish chunks, with a nice Cuda caught yesterday by one of the pier kids using pomp under a trolley. Macks not much of a show and kings are off & on depending on wind conditions. Best bets on catching fish with the kids is hardware if they are old enough to trust in casting on their own. We have been trying out and I am now promoting Pettit’s “Power” Jigs on the tail of your choice. Just for giggles, I was casting them out with no tail in place, just a bare jig, and catching Ladies, Mackerel and Pinfish. To this I am impressed and will now push this new product hard, coming in almost in size one can think about and he will do you custom colors upon request but runs a standard pink, white or chartreuse. Complete the contact form above and we will send you back a couple of complementary Pettit’s “Power” Jigs. The 5/8 ounce jigs seem to work best with medium tackle and Mark Pettit told me last to tip them with squid or shrimp for killer flounder or pompano hook ups. I am going next to try them in a tandem rigging under a trolley with live baits…we will see. Gary A Anderson Freelance Outdoors Writer Webmaster Angler It was but the Stars! The First Quarter Moon is Monday May 12. The evening sky is to the north is enlivened by Mars and Saturn. In the North-west Mars is in Gemini and forms a line with the bright stars Castor and Pollux (the twins of Gemini). On Saturday March 10, Mars is near the Crescent Moon, forming an interesting line-up with the twins. Mercury is peaking up over the horizon at twilight. Saturn is near the bright star Regulus high in the northern sky. On the nights of 12 and 13 May, the waxing Moon is close to this pairing. Jupiter found above the eastern horizon in the late evening. In the morning, Venus is very low in the eastern twilight, and difficult to see.
It is a fun way to give children a vocabulary of things commonly seen on boats and the water. Each page contains vibrant color photos of boating items along with the name of each item below it. Some of the photos in this 24 page book include: powerboat, sailboat, dinghy, life jacket, lighthouse, seagull, marina, harbor, anchor etc. It covers powerboats and sailboats as well as fishing and other water related items. The book was created by a boater and is designed for both boaters and non-boaters, who enjoy the beauty of being active, on the water.
